Saint Clair 2014 In A Single Glass

2014 has been another epic year for Saint Clair, with trade events and winemaker dinners around the globe, accolades from numerous international wine shows and the release of Saint Clair’s very first Methode Traditionelle in honour of Nana Ibbotson’s 100th birthday in Dunedin.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful friends, followers and fans for sharing your experiences with us and being such ardent supporters of what we do. We hope you all have a safe, happy and relaxing time during the festive season.
Grab yourself a glass of wine and join us as we recap some of the highlights from 2014.

The year started off on an exciting note for our senior winemaker Hamish, with the birth of his son:

We had a cracker vintage, with warm flowering, and an early harvest due to a warm, dry summer:

We were thrilled when Winestate magazine gave six of our wines a five-star rating:

It was neat showing some our Slovakian distributors around the region. You can read the full story here.

The annual Marlborough Wine and Food Festival was one of the best ever. We highly recommend joining us for the 2015 festival – you’ll find more info and tickets here.

The big investment and months of work to expand our winery was to pay off sooner than expected, during what would be one of the most condensed vintages we’ve experienced in Marlborough:

Harvest started earlier than usual:

Picked up six golds at the Easter Wine Show. Nice:

Our winemaker Hamish represented Saint Clair the New Zealand Wine RegioNZ event in Australia:

Tony Ibbotson, who resides in Sydney was able to pick up our trophy at the Sydney International Wine Show. Here’s the full story.

For the first time ever, our vintage intern party was held DURING vintage, thanks to the earlier-than-usual harvest:

Harvest went smoothly:

Although it wasn’t smooth for everyone:

92-points from Wine Spectator was pretty exciting, and a big win for us:

We were stoked to be on board for anotherh well-run, FUN Vineyard Half. Tickets to this event will sell out soon, so if you’re keen, be quick, get your tickets here.

Fun times celebrating World Sauvignon Blanc day in the home of the best #SauvBlanc in the world:

Pretty sad when Savvy dog passed away:

Those five golds at the Spiegelau International Wine Comp brightened up our winter:

Getting festive at our mid-winter Christmas do (this is something we do in NZ, to help us through the winter doldrums):

The renovation of our cellar door has been pretty epic:

We always get a little bit excited at bud burst – which was earlier than usual this year:

We had a ball hosting a big banquet breakfast for Negotiants in our wine cellar:

The Saint Clair team did pretty well out on the water this year:

Great achievement for New Zealand wine, and we were pretty stoked to be recognised in this way:

Chinese President thought our Sauvignon Blanc was pretty special, read the full story:

A great achievement for Hamish and the team:

Another couple of trophies:

And four more in Sydney:

And the low key launch of our first Methode Traditionelle at Neal Ibbotson’s Mum’s 100th birthday:
