Saint Clair Cellar Door and Café will be closing its doors on Friday 11th July to undergo renovations. The cellar door has been operating from the same building on Selmes Road, Rapaura, for the last 14 years. Previously owned and operated by Bruce and Bridget Crawford, Saint Clair purchased the business in June 2012 with plans to upgrade and continue to offer great food and service.

As the Saint Clair award tally for world class wines has continued to rise, global markets have increased and the winery has undergone expansion, it has become apparent that a ‘face lift’ in the friendly café would allow Saint Clair to offer a more memorable experience while showcasing their wines in a unique setting.

Being a family owned wine company means such a change only occurs after lengthy discussion around the dinner table, where family members discuss and debate ideas, opportunities, options and logistics. It is a long process but everyone shares the ultimate goal to promote the Saint Clair story and provide the best possible experience to customers.

Nestled amongst the grape vines the newly renovated cellar door will embrace the relaxed feel of being in the vineyard amongst beautiful scenery, looking out to the Richmond Range. Saint Clair will use the skills and expertise of Evan Jones Construction Ltd to manage the build and Southern Hospitality for the kitchen development. The kitchen will be expanded to service the customers with a rejuvenated menu offering local fresh seasonal produce to match the array of award winning wines.

Saint Clair look forward to welcoming both the loyal regular customers as well as new customers, both local and international, when the café reopens. Marketing Manager Julie Ibbotson comments “we don’t want to give away too much as we want to have an element of surprise for those visiting. The new look will continue to reflect the winery values of quality, experience, viticulture, passion and family.”

Pātaka – The adjoining Foodstore will remain open during the closure of the cellar door. Located across the car park from Saint Clair Cellar Door, open daily 10am-4pm. Pātaka will be offering light lunches, Devonshire teas, deli items and giftware.
