The Chinese wine market is the largest and fastest growing market in the world, and is getting a further boost thanks to the rising popularity of wines among younger consumers. With 37 million adults poised to attain drinking age within the next five years (that’s more than the population of Canada), experts say that sales in this segment alone could skyrocket by as much as 200%.
The CWSA Judges travelled from each corner of Hong Kong, China and Taiwan to attend the blind tasting. These esteemed judges are selected from the most prominent Sommeliers, Hoteliers, Retailers, Importers, and Distributors from throughout the region. They are the country’s leading buyers. Together they dominate the China market and are responsible for sales of 50 million bottles of wine and spirits per year.
CWSA Judges reported the standard of wines and spirits was the highest ever seen before. Fiona Luo, CWSA Judge said “CWSA is THE international award recognised in China. Winners are the highest quality and it is useful for consumers and buyers to see CWSA Medals.”
Saint Clair Managing Director Neal Ibbotson comments; “we are incredibly proud of the trophy award from CWSA 2015 which sees some of the most renowned brands in the world. As with all awards, this comes as a complete honour and a terrific thrill to see our wines compare (and succeed) amongst the best in the industry. We work together as a team committed to quality at every level and these awards further strengthens our reputation as a leading New Zealand wine producer.”
