Saint Clair Family Estate are proud to announce outstanding trophy success. The Winestate official awards presentation was held in Queenstown yesterday and the family owned Marlborough winery was awarded the New Zealand Winery of the Year trophy, as well as Winemaker of the Year trophy (Hamish Clark). This is the fourth time that Saint Clair have been awarded the New Zealand Winery of the Year trophy with Winestate (2017, 2014, 2011, 2010) and the third year Hamish has won Winemaker of the Year (2017, 2014, 2012). This continued consistent success for the company reflects the commitment to quality across all facets of their business.
Hamish has been working for Saint Clair for more than 15 years. He is Senior Winemaker and is an integral part of the Saint Clair’s success. Hamish comments; “It was a thrill to be at the prestigious awards presentation where we were awarded these two trophies. We have a great team of people with an open-minded philosophy towards quality from the vineyards, to the wine, to the markets. I was honored to accept the awards on the behalf of the team.”
The Saint Clair Pioneer Block 17 Merlot 2016 was also judged as a Top 5 finalist in its category for these Winestate awards. Sourced from a single vineyard within the Gimblett Gravels winegrowing area of Hawke’s Bay this wine is rich, full bodied and concentrated.
Another trophy for Saint Clair, was announced earlier this week at the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show for the Pioneer Block 5 Gruner Veltliner 2015 – Best New Zealand Wine of the Show. This trophy, which was awarded for the best of the wines that fall outside of the mainstream, further cements Saint Clair’s reputation as a leading New Zealand wine producer.
