2013 is proving to be a terrific year for Saint Clair Family Estate with a constant addition of trophies and gold medals to the trophy cabinet. A pinnacle for the family owned Marlborough winery is the recent announcement that Saint Clair Family Estate has been selected as a 2013 Wine & Spirits, USA ‘Winery of the Year’.
Each year more than 12,000 wines are tasted and critiqued by the Wine & Spirits panel. The wine brands with the overall most consistent performance and highest quality scores are awarded. The Wine and Spirits team comment “Saint Clair’s range of exceptional wines makes it a great ambassador for New Zealand.”
Saint Clair Winemaker Kyle Thomson will be visiting San Francisco in October to attend the respected Top 100 event where all Wine & Spirits wineries of the Year will be honoured. Kyle comments; “it is a thrill to have our winery recognised for consistency in quality and I am honoured to attend this important event on behalf of Saint Clair Family Estate. This is the second time we have been recognised by Wine & Spirits as a winery of the year which further cements our uncompromising approach to attention to detail. A solid team approach from the vineyard to the bottle ensures wines of excellence, shared by our consumers around the globe.”
This news arrives at the same time as the local New Zealand New World Supermarket Wine Awards recognized Saint Clair Marlborough 2012 Premium Merlot with a highly acclaimed gold medal and Top 50 status. This unique competition is consumer focused as it only includes commercially available wines from New Zealand and overseas, retailing at under $25, at New World supermarkets.
Consistent recognition in a variety of wine competitions both locally and internationally is a clear display of quality across the Saint Clair range of varietals and price points. This acknowledgement reinforces Saint Clair’s positioning as a leading New Zealand wine producer.
