Saint Clair Family Estate is making a name for itself in Australia as a producer of quality wines across a range of varieties and price points, according to our senior winemaker Hamish Clark.
Hamish is showcasing our wines during the two-week wine consumer and trade event, RegioNZ By The Glass, held in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
More than 25 of New Zealand’s top producers are featuring 170 wines from Hawke’s Bay, Martinborough, Marlborough and Central Otago at the events.
While Sauvignon Blanc is Marlborough’s flagship wine style, Saint Clair Family Estate’s other wine varieties are also growing in regard, says Hamish.
“Our Grüner Veltliner is developing some good interest, it continues to surprise me how often our Chardonnay is requested at these sessions – more so by the consumers themselves and we’ve received some glowing feedback from people impressed by the quality of our 2012 Omaka Reserve Pinot Noir, which is gratifying to hear.”
The five course degustation meal beautifully prepared with local produce was developed by restaurant owner and chef Francesco Perego, with Saint Clair Family Estate wines in mind.
The delicious food and warm service showed why Le Simpatico is known as one of the best French restaurants in Sydney, Hamish says.
“Great meal, great people, at a fantastic little family owned restaurant – Franc in the kitchen every day from 7am to finish. I’m looking forward to catching up with them again.”
Hamish is off to Perth tonight, before flying back to Marlborough this weekend to get stuck into vintage.
