Saint Clair Family Estate gains great success in the recent New Zealand renowned New World Wine Awards. A consumer-focused wine competition that creates availability throughout more than 135 New World stores within New Zealand. With over 1,200 entries, the top 50 Gold medal-winning wines become available in New World stores nationwide, Saint Clair was fortunate enough to have two gold-winning wines achieving the prestigious Top 50 under $25 status. The Saint Clair Origin Pinot Gris 2021 and Saint Clair James Sinclair Syrah 2021 were two amongst four Saint Clair gold medal winning wines that were selected for retail by an experienced panel of independent wine judges.
Saint Clair’s Red Winemaker, Kyle Thomson who took part as a judge in the competition reflects, “I really am thrilled for the James Saint Clair 2021 Syrah to get through, it’s a fantastic result given the superb examples of Syrah in the competition, we’re very proud. The New World Top 50 under $25 category is a great way to bring high-quality wine to the consumer at an affordable price, so the team is very pleased with the result”.
Other outstanding Saint Clair wines that were recognised with a gold medal were Saint Clair Vicar’s Choice Merlot 2020 and Saint Clair Origin Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Merlot 2021. These can both be purchased in local supermarkets and online through the Saint Clair website. Results were made public for the New World Wine Awards Monday 17 October following their media release which summarises statistics of meal winners over previous years. Saint Clair was mentioned as one of the wineries that have been awarded the most gold medals from 2008 to 2022. Saint Clair has been fortunate enough to have a “stacked trophy cabinet of 21 gold medal winners” during this period.
