An astounding total of six gold medals across a range of varietals were awarded to Saint Clair at the show held in Marlborough in June. This sensational trophy win is a true reflection of consistency and quality adding to an already long list of awards.
GOLD Saint Clair Godfrey’s Creek Reserve Gewurztraminer 2009
GOLD Saint Clair Godfrey’s Creek Reserve Pinot Gris 2012
GOLD Saint Clair Pioneer Block 9 Big John Riesling 2012
GOLD Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2012
GOLD Saint Clair Marlborough Premium Pinot Noir 2012
GOLD Saint Clair Pioneer Block 12 Lone Gum Pinot Noir 2011
The Champion Producer award is shared with two other New Zealand producers (Johanneshof Cellars and Villa Maria Estate). All three excelled in the competition making it impossible to split them apart for this prestigious award.
Judging took place over a period of several days where the wines were sampled and evaluated from across the world. International judges were in the mix with three from Australia and one from Singapore.
Saint Clair managing director Neal Ibbotson comments “vineyard selection is a key focus for Saint Clair and it is only after receiving the best quality fruit that we can make the best possible wine. Saint Clair is internationally recognised for quality Sauvignon Blanc but in the vineyards and at the winery we are focused on quality wines across all varietals and price points. Awards such as this are a great thrill as the combined team effort of dedication and focus is acknowledged.”
This win is certainly a great accolade for Saint Clair and a true reflection of their never abating commitment to quality.
