Saint Clair Pioneer Block 14 Doctor’s Creek Pinot Noir 2012 excelled and was awarded the highly acclaimed Champion Pinot Noir trophy. The wine is named after a small creek at the northern end of a vineyard which produces consistent exceptional wine quality, winning four trophies in the last four years. Saint Clair owners Neal and Judy Ibbotson have memories of their children searching for eels in the creek in the 1970’s when the vineyard was first planted, never imagining the site would produce wine of such quality that it would gain global international success.
The award winning doesn’t stop there for the family owned Marlborough winery, also winning the 2014 Spiegelau Champion Producer of the Show.

These accolades help provide a quality standard which we strive to maintain for our consumers who are the ultimate judge. This is the fourth year for the Spiegelau International Wine Competition (judged 15th-17th July) with 20 judges assessing over 1300 wines. Guest international judges included Ralph Kyte-Powell, Sue Hodder and Mike Bennie.
It is the second consecutive year Saint Clair has been awarded Producer of the Show having won it jointly with two other wineries in 2013.
