The sky is the limit for Marlborough winery Saint Clair Family Estate. With a reputation for consistent and ongoing award success, the team produced a showstopper on Saturday night at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards with a double trophy win.

The Liquorland Champion Open Red Wine trophy was awarded to Saint Clair Marlborough Premium Pinot Noir 2013 and Saint Clair’s flagship wine, Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2014 was awarded the prestigious Label and Litho Limited Champion Sauvignon Blanc trophy.

Neal and Judy Ibbotson are living proof that you can do anything you put your mind to. Starting as viticulture pioneers in the late seventies the couple grew grapes initially as contract growers before establishing the Saint Clair Family Estate wine brand in the early nineties. Now the family owned winery is a global success story selling wines in over 65 world markets.

Neal comments. “We have a vision to create the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Quality wine is what we dream of and these trophies are a great bonus. They reflect quality vineyards, quality systems and quality people. Success is a journey and not a destination and we will continue to aim for constant improvement and enjoy the journey along the way."

Many of the Saint Clair team attended the black tie awards dinner in the Hawkes Bay on Saturday night. It certainly was apparent which table the Saint Clair crew were at with the deafening cheers as the trophies were announced. What a thrill for the team to be present for the announcement of this incredible win and be rewarded for their hard work, dedication and commitment.

Saint Clair winemaker Hamish Clark has had a particularly busy week as he was collecting awards from Winestate Wine of the Year 2014 in Queenstown on Friday where Saint Clair Marlborough Premium Sauvignon Blanc 2013 was awarded Champion Sauvignon Blanc. The winning did not stop there. Hamish Clark was awarded the highly acclaimed trophy for New Zealand Winemaker of the Year and Saint Clair Family Estate was awarded New Zealand Winery of the Year.

Saint Clair truly is flying high, with their exceptional quality wines consistently recognised in internationally renowned wine shows.

The sky’s the limit.
